It Aint Easy Being Green

Most of America probably thought that last weekend was Labor Day weekend- one last excuse for a cook out before the weather turns cool. But for me, it was the great Green Girls Garage sale. Here are a few of the reasons why I have grown to love the Green Girls weekends.

(My mother-in-law and Aunt Pam)

1. There are 11 sisters, each of a varying degree of pack rat (i say lovingly). Some of their children also get in on the sales action. This is Aunt Donna holding down the fort. Each yardsale she sells some of her baby dolls so that she can go to Value City (really its the Northern Lights thrift store) and buy some more.

2. Since they have the garage sale 2x per year, many of the unsold items go back into bins or boxs for the next sale. I know I have seen some of the same items sale over the past 3 years. (Thats how long I have been in the family) My husband claims some items have been recycled for more than 10 years, but I think he is exagerating. Below are my two favorite pieces seen for the first time at this sale.

(These are poor little earings that have lost their partners, now named "Onezees" selling for 25 cents.)

3. Its every girl for herself. If the tag has someone elses initials on it, you are not at liberty to barter the price for them. Some of the ladies can get a bit fiesty about their crap... uhm, I mean sales items.

(These photos have nothing to do with point #3, but they show about half the items for sale.)

4. After the end of the weekend most of the ladies end up with their car just as full as they came, but its now full of their sisters' junk. What else is family for.
